Description
Overcoming the standard 100-metre Ethernet limitation is a common challenge for South African network installers, and the MikroTik GPeR (Gigabit Passive Ethernet Repeater) is the perfect tool for the job. As a core component of the Gigabit Passive Ethernet Network (GPEN) range, this compact device allows you to extend your network reach significantly without sacrificing Gigabit speeds. Whether you are linking outbuildings on a farm or extending connectivity across a large office floor, the GPeR provides a reliable, cost-effective alternative to fibre for distances up to 1.5km when daisy-chained.
The unit is remarkably flexible; it can extend a cable run by up to 150m to a standard network device, or up to 210m when connecting to another GPeR unit. For setups where the end device doesn't require power, the PoE passthrough can be manually disabled by adjusting internal jumpers, preventing potential hardware damage. Designed to withstand harsh environments, it operates comfortably in temperatures ranging from -40°C to 70°C, making it ideal for ceiling voids or outdoor enclosures across South Africa.
